The best thing I experienced all day was the coming of D. Scott's surprise birthday party. It all began when Aaron tried to be sneaky and create both a real invite and fake invite via facebook to trick the birthday boy. The first invitation was a private message marked "THIS IS THE REAL THING"; the second message was another invite that went public (so D would see it) for a different date and place. If you ask me, D should be too smart to think that Aaron would actually let him see an invitation to his own party. Not quite said D, remarking to me tonight that such an oversight is exactly something Aaron would do. That was an understatement. Aaron, in fact, did overlook the slight problem that D is a part of his "D.C. friends" group, to whom both the fake and real invitations were sent. And thus, the plan was foiled from the get-go. Thus, imagine my shock, walking into Red Robin and being greeted by D, who wasn't surprised in the slightest to see me.
But wait, it gets better. Just in case D didn't check facebook for a few days (not possible for any human being (ha!) let alone D), another D.C. genius came to the rescue. Ryan happened to text Aaron asking when D Scott's surprise party was, in which case, D happened to be holding Aaron's phone and promptly responded!
In the end it all turned out well, after finding each other and abandoning the 75 min. wait for Red Robin. Instead we had a nice meal at Wingers and just as the birthday song and sundae concluded, who called, but Red Robin next door, saying, "Your table is ready!" Logan politely declined, and I in Blair fashion said, "Bring on round 2!"
